Calling You
Mixed media on panel
11" x 14"
Black lines run across the panel in steady rows like a message tapped out in a code only the heart can read. Above and below, neon yellow threads glow bright and clean, while warm bursts of orange, scarlet and olive brown rise between them, swirled and marbled where the colors met while still wet. Small red dots scatter at the edges like signals sent out into the air. The pale ground behind softens everything with a cool, cloudy spray. Mandie poured these lines quickly and repeatedly, letting each one echo the last until a rhythm emerged. It feels persistent and warm, a voice reaching out again and again until it is finally heard.
Where do messages arrive in your house? An entry console, a home office or a hallway desk would suit this piece. The neon yellow and warm oranges look dynamic against black accents, charcoal walls or clean pale paint with walnut furniture.

MORE FROM THE RIVER COLLECTION
The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
