Mixed media on panel
12" x 12"
Streamers are flying. Long horizontal ribbons stretch across the panel in a joyful, mirrored order: indigo and red at the top and again at the bottom, orange and yellow just inside them, and at the very center a broad, wavy band of sky blue, threaded through with green, that seems to dance from edge to edge. The ends curl, knot and drip like party ribbons that have just been tossed. Behind them, faint misted stripes of pale blue echo the rhythm on the white ground. Mandie poured each line in a single sweep and let the paint bead and puddle as it settled. It feels like the moment the music starts, generous, happy and impossible not to smile at.
Hang it in the dining room for every birthday dinner and holiday gathering to come. Its mirrored ribbons also suit a playroom, a kitchen or a gallery wall, and look especially cheerful near striped linens, painted chairs and a vase of tulips.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
