Dream Weather
Mixed media on panel
24" x 18"
Soft blues drift and swirl as if the sky were changing its mind. A pale, luminous streak of white and lime sweeps across the upper left like a sunbeam, while in the center a curious form of chartreuse and green rests on its side, ridged like a cocoon about to open. To the right, a cobalt line loops and scribbles over a patch of soft yellow, playful and free, and lower down a dark smudge glows inside a ring of mossy green. Clouds of aqua and lavender fill the spaces between. Mandie poured, sprayed and drew directly into the color, following instinct more than plan. The whole painting feels like a daydream, gentle, shifting and full of quiet possibility.
Light filled rooms suit it best: a bedroom with sheer curtains, a sunny landing, a bath with pale tile. Its drifting blues feel airy and changeable, so keep the surroundings simple, perhaps soft gray, rattan, and a single plant, and let the painting do the dreaming.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
