Easy Breath
Mixed media on panel
8" x 8"
Like a coastline glimpsed from a small plane window, a pale blue lagoon opens between bands of chartreuse and deep teal. Its surface is threaded with fine cracks, and where it meets the cream-colored shore the water foams into tiny bubbles and scalloped edges. Along the lower right, a raised ridge of sand, gray and lime stands in real relief, rough to the eye and almost sculptural. Mandie let the pour crack and dry on its own terms and built the ridge by hand, following wherever the surface wanted to go. Every color feels fresh and open, like the first deep inhale after stepping outside.
Bathrooms and bedsides love a piece like Easy Breath. Set it on a shelf or a quiet desk corner with pale blue towels, a sprig of eucalyptus, and smooth river stones nearby, and its little lagoon brings a moment of calm to the day.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
