First Love III
Mixed media on panel
12" x 12"
Between two horizons of deep blue, a warm heart of color beats. Butter yellow and a fine line of green open the scene, then peach, orange and bright pink spread across the panel, with a raised band of red at the very center, its surface pebbled and textured like something sewn by hand. A long ribbon of pink trails out to the right, light and lingering. Near the bottom, a little wave of blue and white crests and curls with lacy detail, as if the sea came rushing up to join the celebration. Mandie poured the layers and let them ripple, bubble and crest freely. It feels tender and bold at once, the sweet surprise of an open heart.
Completing the First Love trio, this panel looks wonderful hung in a row along a hallway or above a bed. On its own, it brings a warm heartbeat of peach and pink to a desk or a shelf, especially against soft navy or warm plaster.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
