Heartbeat
Mixed media on panel
36" x 36"
A great heart takes shape across the panel, its body a soft cerulean blue, outlined in glowing yellow and edged with streaks of raspberry pink. Inside it, fine pale threads drift and tangle like a pulse traced by hand, while two dark blue shapes rest at either side, their surfaces beaded with tiny raised bubbles. Below, the colors break into a field of lime and turquoise, scratched and streaked as if the heart were standing in tall grass. Mandie sprayed, poured and drizzled in quick succession and the form emerged almost on its own. The painting radiates warmth and openness, a love that is bright, generous and alive.
Picture it above the bed in a primary suite, a quiet daily reminder of affection. Its cerulean and raspberry tones sit beautifully against warm plaster or pale gray, with rose velvet pillows, a brass lamp and fresh tulips completing the romantic mood.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
