Hush II
Mixed media on panel
24" x 6"
Periwinkle fills the upper half like an evening sky, then slowly melts into a band of burnished gold and bronze below. The transition runs on a slant, as if dusk were sliding across the panel. Small bubbles and pits dot the lavender like distant stars, and the gold catches light in a fine, sandy grain. Pale streaks of white trace the direction of the pour, soft as a sigh. Mandie let the colors flow together and settle on their own, inviting each texture rather than controlling it. The painting feels tender and contemplative, a moment of rest held between day and night.
Grouped with its siblings in the Hush series or hung on its own, this narrow panel lends grace to a powder room, an entry niche, or the space beside a tall bookcase. Warm brass and periwinkle textiles carry its dusky glow into the room.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
