Lightning Dance
Mixed media on panel
20" x 20"
Zigzags of gold flicker across a deep teal ground like a storm putting on a show. A tall bolt of yellow blazes through the center, haloed in a glowing sprayed light, while four smaller marks point in from the corners like sparks answering it. On either side, bold blocks of bubblegum pink have been dragged and scraped, their edges breaking into splatters and drips. Soft clouds of sky blue drift behind everything, giving the scene depth and a sense of night air. Mandie sprayed the light first, then squeezed and dragged the thick color on top, letting each gesture land with energy. Electric and full of fun, it is a celebration of the wild weather in all of us.
Is there a corner of your home that needs a jolt of energy? This storm of gold suits a study, an entry, or a media room. Dark teal, charcoal, or ink blue walls make it flash, and brass hardware echoes its electric yellow.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
