Lullaby
Mixed media on panel
20" x 20"
A soft hush falls over this canvas of midnight teal. Two thick golden crescents curl on the left like cradling arms, their surfaces bumpy and alive under a scatter of yellow dust. To the right, a looping line of deep red zigzags downward through a column of glowing color, red to orange, yellow, green, blue and finally violet, while a full round moon rests calmly in the lower corner. Small pale dots drift by like breath on cool air. Mandie layered sculpted paint, sprayed light and a single drawn thread, trusting each to find its place. The painting sways gently from color to color, tender and comforting, like a song sung just before sleep.
Quiet enough to be the last thing you see at night, Lullaby belongs above a nightstand or a crib. Midnight blue walls or soft gray, velvet cushions, and warm lamplight let its golden crescents glow gently as the room settles.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
