Ostinato IV
Mixed media on panel
24" x 24" x 2.5"
Deep blue and moss green twist into a looping figure at the heart of the panel, crusted and textured, its upper ring and lower ring joined like two links in a chain. Bright lime sweeps through it, pooling in a soft, rounded patch near the base. Around it, the ground is a warm field of saffron and orange, and from the top edge pale green and blue drips run straight down behind the form, as steady as a metronome. The dark shape breaks apart at its edges into small, ragged drops. Mandie poured the loop and let it spread, then allowed the drips to fall freely. The result is earthy and grounded, a rhythm that keeps going no matter what.
Raking side light from a nearby window will catch every ridge of this crusted surface. Give it a library, a study or an earthy living room, with deep green or navy walls, stone, walnut and a few plants to echo its blue and moss tones.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
