Ostinato IX
Mixed media on panel
36" x 36"
Sunshine drips down the panel in long golden threads, falling from a crust of yellow and orange gathered along the top edge. Through this warm curtain winds a single continuous loop of bright turquoise, rimmed in crimson, lime and gold, coiling twice and meeting itself in the middle. The loop is textured and lively, its edges speckled with small cells and splashes that broke free as it was poured. A haze of sprayed gray and navy frames the glow, deepening toward the corners. Mandie let the drips fall freely and then traced the loop in one patient line, trusting the paint to blend where it crossed. It feels like a melody played again and again, each time just as bright.
Turquoise ceramics, rattan pendants and a honey-toned oak table make easy partners for this golden canvas. Hang it in a dining room or a sunlit living space, where an afternoon window nearby will make every falling thread glisten.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
