Ostinato XII
Mixed media on panel
48" x 36" x 2.5"
A bold yellow stroke curls across the top and loops down into a swirling body of marbled color, where scarlet, rose, cobalt, emerald and pale lilac twist through each other like currents in a tide pool. The loop is lavish and sculptural, its edges rimmed in deep green and spattered with tiny droplets. Behind it, a curtain of yellow, pink and blue drips runs down a dark teal ground, glowing in soft sprayed bands. Mandie poured the form in layers and let gravity and chance marble the colors, each pass revealing something unexpected. The painting carries the joy of repetition, the comfort of returning to a favorite tune again and again.
A swirling loop this vibrant deserves a prominent place: above a sofa, a dining sideboard or at the end of a long hallway. Emerald velvet, yellow accents and a polished brass lamp pick up its jewel tones, and a picture light will deepen its glossy surface.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
