Parallel Lives
Mixed media on panel
24" x 6"
Five colors stand side by side down the length of this panel, red, orange, yellow, cobalt and indigo, each keeping to its own lane. The warm lines on the left run thin and drippy, breaking into small drops as they fall, while the blues on the right are broad and steady, opening into little windows where the white ground peeks through. Near the base, a touch of teal and green blooms where the yellow finally meets the blue. Mandie poured each stripe on its own and let them travel downward together, close but never quite merging. It speaks of lives running alongside one another, distinct and devoted, sharing the same direction.
Perfect for a couple's bedroom or a shared study, it brings structure and color to a narrow space. Hang it beside a bed or between bookcases, where its warm and cool lanes echo the mix of brass and blue in nearby textiles.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
