Secret Language
Mixed media on panel
24" x 12"
Across a hazy field of chartreuse and olive, a column of looping lines climbs on the diagonal like handwriting from a language only the heart can read. The marks begin pale and silvery at the top, warm into honey and amber in the middle, and grow bold and inky black toward the base, each stroke ending in a small rounded drop. Fine flecks of gold scatter through the clouded ground, and soft gray shadows drift at the corners. Mandie drew these lines in a single flowing motion, letting the poured paint pool and thin as it wished. It feels intimate and quietly mysterious, a message passed between two people who understand each other without a word.
Private and poetic, Secret Language feels at home in a study, a writing nook, or a bedroom hallway. Olive and moss tones, a walnut desk, and a shelf of well read books create a setting where its looping marks read like a letter meant just for you.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
