Twilight Heart
Mixed media on panel
30" x 24"
Plum, crimson and deep violet burn at the heart of this painting, with a glimmer of olive gold tucked into its left side and a fringe of combed cream and gold lines crowning the top. From that warm center, cool blue spills downward in long, raked strands, as if the last light of evening were draining into the night. A haze of charcoal gray drifts across the upper left, soft and smoky against the cream ground. Mandie poured the colors together and then dragged them, each stroke leaving fine ridges and gaps where the ground shows through. It holds the quiet ache of dusk, when the day lets go and something warm keeps glowing inside.
Plum velvet and a little brass are all it takes to build a room around Twilight Heart. It looks stunning in a bedroom, a dining room, or a den, where olive accents and soft evening light deepen its jewel tones into an intimate glow.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
