Two Hearts, Turning
Mixed media on panel
30" x 30"
Two golden forms circle one another across the canvas, each drawn in raised, looping lines that open like hands or flowers, one reaching down from the upper right and the other rising from the lower left. A warm river of orange runs diagonally between them, dotted with small beads of color like a trail of embers. Around them, a glow of yellow fades into a deep navy edge, and two curving shapes of textured teal hold the corners like protective arms. The lines of paint sit thick and glossy, catching the light along every curve. Mandie poured the loops freehand and let the composition find its own balance. It is a tender painting about love and companionship, two lives moving in step.
Over a bed, a sofa, or a fireplace mantel, Two Hearts, Turning brings a feeling of closeness to the room. Warm plaster or soft taupe surroundings, brass details, and a matched pair of lamps complement its two golden forms circling one another.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
