Waiting for Summer
Mixed media on panel
8" x 8"
Hope comes in bright colors here. Bold turquoise and neon yellow pour down from the top edge in thick, glossy drips, landing over a soft sprayed ground that glows from tangerine into green and back again. The drips are smooth, round-edged and generous, standing up from the surface with a candy-like shine, while the background holds a fine, velvety grain. Mandie poured the colors and let them run until they stopped on their own, each line choosing its own length. Small as it is, the painting radiates the restless, happy anticipation of long sunny days still to come.
On a kitchen windowsill, a desk or a child's bookshelf, it brings a taste of summer to even the grayest day. Turquoise and citrus accents, a small potted plant and a cheerful mug or two pick up its sunny, glowing palette.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
