When the Night Lets Go
Mixed media on panel
36" x 36" x 2.5"
Darkness begins to lift in a rush of falling color. Bright aqua cascades from the top across most of the panel, spilling into long rivulets over layers of royal blue, indigo, crimson and plum, while flashes of yellow and lime break through on the left like the first light catching the edge of the sky. The drips are dense, glossy and layered several deep, some fine as thread, others thick and pooled. Near the center, a small smear of violet sits like a lingering shadow. Mandie poured wave after wave, allowing each to tumble over the last and mingle as it fell. It is the moment the night finally releases its hold and morning begins to sing.
Dawn after a long night: that is the feeling this painting brings to a living room wall, a stairwell, or the space above a dining sideboard. Aqua and royal blue accents, cool stone, and pale oak keep it fresh, and its deep profile needs no frame.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
