Where Day Ends
Mixed media on panel
24" x 24"
A bold diagonal line divides glowing day from deep night. The lower left is drenched in saffron and marigold, warm and velvety, shadowed with soft smudges like the last clouds of the afternoon. Across the line, a midnight sky of slate and navy is alive with color: speckles of rose, gold, turquoise and white scatter like stars just beginning to appear, gathering into a misty glow near the center. The edge between them is soft and grainy, a gentle seam rather than a hard break. Mandie sprayed the gold in smooth layers and then flicked and dusted the night with a lighter touch. It captures that tender hour of evening when the world exhales and rests.
Evening rooms suit it best: a den, a bedroom, a dining corner lit by candles. The meeting of saffron and deep night feels warm and cinematic, and it pairs naturally with terracotta, rust textiles, and dark wood that hold the glow after sunset.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
