Where It Softens
Mixed media on panel
36" x 36"
On the left, the paint is dense and urgent: lemon yellow, orange and cobalt dragged in thick, rough strokes, a bright diagonal flash cutting across like a sudden thought. Moving right, the mood begins to change. Deep royal blue gives way to a calm, misty sea green, brushed in fine crosshatched lines, and then to a soft dove gray touched with pale yellow light. The surface records every gesture, from heavy scraped ridges to whisper-thin layers. Mandie worked with a palette knife and brush, pulling the color across and letting the texture tell its own story. It feels like a storm easing into peace, a heart finding its quiet again.
There is something reassuring about living with a painting that moves from energy to calm. Hang it in a home office or above a living room sofa, where sea green walls, a pale wood desk and a brass lamp keep the room grounded and bright.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
