Whole World
Mixed media on panel
12" x 12"
Cobalt blue, molten bronze, sunflower yellow and hot magenta crowd together in one round, generous shape, like a small planet seen from orbit. The blue spreads across the top like a deep ocean, while a raised, metallic brown landmass sits at the center, its surface rough and shimmering. Yellow streams across the middle in a bright current flecked with orange, and on the lower right a field of vivid pink glows like a continent in bloom. The pale, cloudy ground around it is lightly sprayed and dotted with tiny specks. Mandie let the colors collide, mingle and dry into a geography of their own making. It feels expansive and embracing, as though everything that matters could fit inside.
Imagine a small planet resting on your bookshelf. This compact canvas makes a jewel of a focal point on a desk, a mantel or a gallery wall, where its cobalt, bronze and magenta shine alongside brass objects, an old globe and travel mementos.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
